A Night Walk Turns Into An Interstellar Incident?

As of late I’ve taken to an evening stroll at dusk, originally just to do something different at work for my last break rather than sitting in the locker room. I found the cool air and night sounds are really relaxing.

Since I’m off this week I saw no reason to stop this new tradition so I struck out into the night without a light and found another reason why I should do this.

Fear.

I don’t fear the dark itself but what I can’t see in the shadows. Walking right outside my home is one thing, that’s sanctuary. However out of sight of home that comforting feeling vanishes, though still at peace I walked on towards the swamp a half-mile down the road listening to fireworks (early), crickets, and staring at Venus on the horizon surrounded by glistening stars. Lightning bugs flashing on and off around me .

Peace…

Close to home I noticed something reflecting in the woods like a pair of eyes and a metal face. Weird I know, but when I was a kid I’d scare myself silly reading books on UFOs and I’d be lying if it didn’t cross my mind.

Instead of screaming for the house I stared…and stared…and stared. No movement.

So I threw my water bottle at it.

Still nothing. So I go into the woods to investigate the visitor…an aluminum pan. Mystery solved.

What are your thoughts about this?
